Additional Hitachi NR90AE Round Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer Information

Hitachi's superior design and engineering make this a top-of-the-list choice for a framing nailer, just as hardworking as the NR83 model that preceded it, but with a few major improvements.

We like the way Hitachi's integrated both types of trigger, so there's no need to replace anything – just flip the lever on the tool down for bump or up for sequential firing. Also tool-free is the depth-of-fire adjustment: Just turn a small knob to set your depth. It's even easier than adjusting the air pressure.

This nailer has a 21-degree angled magazine and fires nails from 2 inches to 3-1/2 inches, a wider range than the old NR83 handled. Loading is much faster and easier on this gun, too, because Hitachi's redesign repositioned the loading mechanism at the rear of the magazine. A maximum of 64 plastic-strip collated full round head nails will fit in the magazine, but reloading takes a few seconds, so there's no downside to that. This is one of the most jam-free guns we've used; it just fires and fires. Should you find a way to jam it, the procedure to clear the jam is super fast and couldn't be easier.

The balance of this tool is incredible; at a relatively light 7-1/2 pounds, you'd expect to feel a little strain after using this gun for a few hours, but the ergonomics are fantastic. Hats off to Hitachi on this redesign. And of course, you'll notice immediately the difference in appearance between this gun and its predecessor. It's sporting Hitachi's hot new look, with brighter colors and a flame-like graphic, better suited, we think, to the new personality of this fantastic nailer.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

What Customers Say About Hitachi NR90AE Round Head 2-Inch to 3-1/2-Inch Framing Nailer:

The nailer did not tire me. I am a DIY type not a professional. It felt good.It is a shame a hanger is not built in. This is the first nailer I ever used. No big deal but was a surprise as I was in the single fire mode. These nails once they go in have great holding power. The point at the tip usually supports the nailer and the nail is driven without fuss.

The clips go in easilly. More specialized nails such as spiral galvanized are not cheap nor that available at the local lumber yard. It is nice to at a glance see if it is close to reload time. The color is a bit goofy but you get used to it quickly.Overall I like it.

I am building a simple house. Vertical nailing is a breeze. I had one double fire. There is not too much bounce back. Most of my nailing so far has been toe nailing. That is great for weight but I am concerned it may be a bit fragile and could be damaged if struck against a stone or wood when putting it down. It it relatively light. Would also be nice if the magazine holder had a measuring scale on it.

Only fired 500-600 nails so far. I am impressed. The magazine holder seems to be a bit light. Hope it lasts.

Works off of my Bostitch compressor, though I had to get the connector adapter. Easy to learn, easy to load, a precision tool.

What a fantastic piece of equipment. I'll never go back to nailing wif a hammer.

Got the Hitachi NR90AE Round Head Framing Nailer for several ongoing, home and rental property framing projects. Everyone wants to try it out when I'm working wif it.

This is a real energy saver for the do-it-yourselfer or the professional. Heck, I look like a professional when I'm using it.

Compliments my smaller finishing nailers. Get one today; you won't be disappointed.

and they do not pull apart or out easily. Very Pleased.I bought this framing nailer from Amazon in late 2008 in preparation for building out a bedroom and full bath in the lower level of my home (e.g., the basement). So think before you nail. I almost always get 2 or 3 day delivery from Amazon, even with the standard shipping. Not good. I'm pretty handy with power tools, have a well equipped woodshop, and I am VERY, VERY PARTICULAR about my tools. always, always, always place it on the floor.

I'm a fan of Bosch and Porter Cable.I bought the Hitachi nailer after carefully reading the online specs and the many reviews on this site. The project used almost exactly one box of nails (1000) and I never had a single mis-fire or jam. They are now my only source for mail order stuff.I also have the Porter Cable finishing nailer combo (finish, brad, and staple, with pancake compressor). The tool is very well balanced and I was able to easily fit the gun into all the tight spaces I ran into as I was framing the shower, small shelves, and closets.Overall I am very pleased with the quality, precision, and usefulness of the gun. Again, I found very good reviews online.

A Great Tool. The couple of times I set it on the work table or ladder. sure enough, I caught the hose with my foot and the gun went crashing to the floor. but no worse for wear. The Hitachi nails this gun uses are slightly ringed. Maybe, I'm just getting a bit better with age, but the use of a nail gun really seems to result in a much better overall job. Just wish it came with a nice case, like many other tools today.BTW - I just ordered a Hitachi router from Amazon. I believe they have a distribution center near Harrisburg for many tools. As I recall I bought 1000 Hitachi brand nails at Lowes for about $35.If I had to buy another framing nailer today.

If you've never used a nailer while framing you are in for a treat. One tip - when setting the gun down. I would not hesitate to buy the same Hitachi gun. Perhaps I'm now a Bosch, PC, and Hitachi guy.

I am satisfied with the time and labor savings I am experiencing using the nailer. I am thinking it may be the nails, because it seems to start at the end of a strip.

I purchased the Hitachi based on the reviews I read. This is my first experience with a framming nailer.

However, when I swithched to 2 3/8" it continuously skipped, to the point that I had to advance the nails manually after each "shot". I worked great on the 3 1/4" nails.

No skips, jams, etc. However, the 2 3/8" nails are from the same manufacturer.

Since I have no basis of comparison, I don't know if the Hitachi is any better or worse than the other models.

Great product. would buy more of these If i need them. Never jams. Always dependable.
